Losing support for 5235
« on: February 21, 2018, 09:39:46 AM »
I seem to remember that Mitel was going to discontinue support for the 5235 phones in software.
So if you had those phones, you'd have to upgrade them.
I can't find where I read that.  Has anyone else seen a note like that?  (Perhaps I was dreaming)

A note is in the software release notes for MiVB 8.0
MiVoice Business 8.0 no longer supports the following:
•   5230 Phone
•   5235 Phone
•   MN5550 IP Console
•   MXe Server                   Note: Systems should be migrated to MiVB-ISS or VMiVB
•   Stratus deployments   Note: Stratus under VMware is supported
•   MiTAI client (see bulletin PB20160149)

I would be very curious to know if this was the case.

There is no official word I am aware of discontinuation of 53xx phones, not yet anyway... I think they are safe for at least a couple years.

The 5235 thing though, that's been a year or so... We have dealt with it a few times. The are not just "unsupported", they do not work anymore. Actually, basic call functionality works, but no keys work at all.

Last I heard they were planning to continue selling the 53xx range but looking at thining out the range (possibly discontinuing supply of the 5312 and 5324)

The 6930/40 with the headset is very good and the users love it. Also the price is better than the old one.
Worth upgrading your controller to provide support for 6900 series phones.
