Script or method to push 802.1x credentials to phones
« on: September 21, 2010, 05:57:32 PM »
Hi all,

I am in the process of pushing out an 802.1X scheme to our network and we use a Mitel 3300 with a mix of 5330 and 5324 phones connected to all HP 2610 switches.  I have two systems working currently meaning I have the phone authenticating if I set the username and password in the phone (which is tedious for alot of phones) or disabling 802.1X on the phone and using MAC authentication on the switch for the 00-80-0F-* addressing.  What I'd like to do is simply create a script or be able to push those options via dhcp, or push them from the 3300 to all the phones to limit the amount of running around I'll have to do.

Any help appreciated.

Currently (and probably always) this is not possible.

We were hoping for the same thing when we needed to push unique 802.1x to over 3000 5330's. We looked for a way to do it ourselves and spoke to Mitel engineers about it, but there is no way to do this.

DHCP is cleartext - would kind of defeat the purpose....
