Joining Two Clusters
« on: February 17, 2017, 12:02:03 PM »
Does anyone have any experience joining two clusters together?
Are there any how-to notes?

Ralph

The extension scheme would have to be compatible.

By "join", you could either create a couple of IP trunks joining them, or you could take all the MCDs out of one cluster and add them to the other.

To make one big cluster, you would have to remove the NE's one at a time from the old cluster, and bring them into the existing cluster... You can make 2 clusters accessible to each other using PNI, haven't done it and it was just skimmed in the advanced class. Big stuff like this, I would involve sales engineering, tech support, and possibly Mitel Professional Services.

Here's a How-To from Mitel on how to join two clusters:
Quote
Existing Cluster A: Ottawa, London, Paris, Amsterdam
Existing Cluster B: Toronto and Montreal

Step 1: Verify that both clusters contain unique numbering plan

Step 2: Change the Cluster name in the Cluster B Cluster Element form to the same

Cluster name that is in Cluster A. Make sure that they match exactly (Upper/Lower

Case)

Step 3: Assign the elements from Cluster B into the Network Element form and the

Cluster Element form in 1 of Cluster A's controllers, i.e. Ottawa

Step 4: Open up the System Options form in all of Cluster B controllers and

disable System Data Synchronization - Save and re-enable.

Step 5: From Cluster A - i.e. Ottawa Controller open up the Network Element form,

select one of the new controllers and Start Sharing.

Step 6: Once the initial sync is complete, then you can sync other forms , basic

will be Users, and Hosted services in order to merge the RDN's

Looks like it might be easier than I thought.
