if you go into configuration chat settings on the UCA client and uncheck the save chat history, I can still see the history on the server under the UCA account.  Is the system designed to save all history, or is there a setting on the server to disable or go based off the check box setting?

Maybe the NSA is monitoring it. :)

I am bringing this up again to see if anything over time has changed or if anyone has any new input on how to stop the system from recording?

The cleint option will only stop logging history to the local machine, but will still log on the server side. The is a process to turn off server side chat history, which I believe is now in the latest MiCollab 7.0 documentation on MOL.

Process is as follows:-

Using putty:-
1. edit /etc/e-smith/templates/opt/intertel/conf/sip_ims.ini/50Configuration set EnableFile=no
2. expand-template /opt/intertel/conf/sip_ims.ini

Use the following procedure to delete existing chat history from MiCollab Client Service.

1. Stop the SIPIMS service from the MiCollab Client Service diagnostic page.
- Go to the MiCollab Client Service configuration page and click the Perform Server Diagnostics under Diagnostics.
- Locate SIPIMS and click Stop.

2. Move all files from the /opt/intertel/data/imarchive directory.
You may want to move the files to /root by performing 'mv hab_ims_archive* /root'
from the /opt/intertel/data/imarchive directory. You can do this with PuTTY, but if there
are many files, you may want to use an application such as WinSCP.

- You can also delete the files from the PuTTY command line if you do not want to keep
the history.

3. Restart MiCollab Client Service

This is great, what I was looking for.  However, I must admit I am a little confused yet though.  I use SSH to putty into the server under Root to go to console and edit mailboxes and what not.  I log in at Admin to do backups and what not.  I am unfamiliar with entering commands such as this.

I logged in as root and at the prompt pasted this command but it just barks at me.  So feel like i need to enter a command to get into config mode or something?

Please advise.

logging in as root is correct, but you need to know your way around a linux shell in order to follow the instructions given above.

Since it seems you don't have that, can you find anyone in your shop that has some familiarity with linux shell? 'vi', to edit the file specified?

Some kid off the street maybe? :)

So I have figured out so far, I think the "edit" at the start of the line shouldn't be in there.  If I remove that I get a line that says permission denied.  which is strange being I am logged in as root.

I am working with my support vendor as well, but they are not well at linux apparently either.

I don't understand why there isn't a option to turn it off in the configuration window of MAS.  Seems that would be more convenient.

Found another article on this and it suggested using Midnight Commander.

I did try that, getting farther.  However, when I find the file, still can't determine how to set enable =no?
then the second part doesn't make sense if I am doing it from MC?

I am getting closer I think, almost there.  Still looking for more suggestions.

To be honest, Mitel100's directions are quite accurate,  although you might have to tweak them slightly using common Linux knowledge and some common sense. No offense intended, but If this is difficult for you perhaps you should contact your vendor to work with support to accomplish this task and submit a DCR to put an Enable/Disable toggle in McCollab Client settings.
