MXE III Question

I have a brand new MXE III with 2 hard drives and a raid card. I hooked everything up and I have plugged my Ethernet cable into both lan 1 and 2. I cannot ping 192.168.1.2 my pc is set to this subnet. I have tried consoling in on raw 2002 and 192.168.1.2 but the putty screen opens up blank. Am I missing something with this PBX? Normally, I deal with CX II's

Use a serial cable to watch the boot of the controller and verify ip address that way.

Also make sure you have VLAN tagging turned off on your PC and the ICP. To turn it off from the VxWorks command line:

-> vlan_off

Disable VLAN ...

Switch to untagged voice VLAN ...
... processing

I woud start with only connecting to LAN1 not both.
You could also try with only a single HDD.

Last time I did a RAID configuration on an MXeIII, it wouldn't boot out of the box... had to do a fresh install of the operating system manually.

But I would concur with bluewhite4, connect a serial cable and see what's going on.

How do I connect using the serial cable? I have connected using a serial cable before but used putty and raw, port 2002 and connected to the default IP. When I try this it opens up a putty screen as a blank page.

Change the Putty "Connection type" to "serial".

I have tried that as well. I have an MXE working at the location I'm stationed and I was able to log into it using the raw connection type port 2002 and it's IP. I know my cables are good. Even on this MXE I couldn't  set it to serial connection and be able to log in. I changed the putty settings to what one of my old manuals show so maybe a setting has changed.

The front RS232 is a straight DB9 serial cable.
Set your terminal emulator (i.e Putty) to 9600-N-8-1

When booting the controller you should get a stream of text info come through.

Also if using a USB to RS232 adapter check your COM port is assigned correctly.

The cable pinout should be 1-1,2-2,3-3,4-4,5-5,6-6,7-7,8-8,9-9. I has to work when you connect from Putty and set serial with default speed 9600.
