Screensaver back after upgrade to 6.0SP3
« on: May 18, 2015, 10:15:31 AM »
I recently updated a couple systems to 6.0 SP3, and both customers are telling me they are getting the screensaver again, after it had been removed from the Application Profile... I verified all phones are in the correct Application Profile, and the screensaver application is not in that profile, but all phones are getting the screensaver. Anyone else getting this and found a solution?

Got a reply from systems engineering:

The 5360 phones were designed as to not let the screen saver be turned off. What we provided in the knowledge base was a work around to be able to get by this design. If the work around no longer works then you will need to put in an enhancement request. You could try making sure there is no apps at all in the app profile and then erase the main load on the phone and see if that works as a work around.

What the does that mean, erase the main load?!?!

Acejavelin,

My guess would be to default the phone to factory settings through the setup options.

Thanks,

TE

Hmm... I learned something new today... still didn't help, but here is how to erase the main version:

To "Erase the Main Load", reboot the phone and hold down both volume keys until you see a Configuration Menu.

When in the Configuration Menu, choose No until you get to Tools and Features, then choose Yes.

In this Menu, choose No until you get to Diagnostics, then choose Yes.

When in the Diagnostics Menu, press the UP Volume key once and you should see "Erase Main Load", choose Yes.

After choosing Yes, the phone will go through a reboot cycle to download the phone firmeware from the 5000.
Do not disconnect the power during this process as it can damage the phone.

If the screensaver still cannot be disabled after erasing the main load, you would have to submit a Design Chang Request through Mitel Online

Acejavelin,

Guess I learned something too, I just hold down the blue application key to get to the configuration menu.

Thanks,

TE

Guess I come from the old Mitel side of the house, always used a volume key to access config menu... didn't know the blue key worked. lol

JohnP,

I am not familiar with that process, what is it for or what does it do? For the longest time though I didn't know you could press 7 when the phone booted up to put it in Teleworker mode.

Thanks,

TE

When booted up you can hold both volume keys down, release the down volume and enter 234 then release the up volume to bring up the menu to view current settings and do other things.

Funny, I am home but still working.  :D Not bad when a reboot actually fixes a problem you have never seen.

Johnp,

I have been working from home the last two weeks and I am getting tired of it. Yeah, step one to an "odd" problem is always nice when it works. lol

Thanks,

TE

Even better when you open a ticket for a phone that you can't view settings or delete because it give a database error and doesn't appear in the programmed phones form.
