SIP Trunk have license but cant select
« on: May 21, 2015, 02:37:01 PM »
I am looking into possibly creating an asterisks system for our remote facilities. In order to do this I need SIP Trunking to work.

I found a walk through online but there is one thing that does not make sense.

Under licensing I see I have 1 of 4 sip trunks used

When i create the sip trunk group the maximum call is set to 0 and I cannot change it.

has any one had this issue before?

Has anyone put an asterisk system together with a mitel?

cgashlin01,

The maximum number of calls is restricted by the number of SIP Trunk licenses and it will increase and decrease when you add or delete trunks from the group as the value must be less than or equal to the number of SIP Trunk licenses for the system.

You will need to create SIP Peer Trunks under your SIP Peer > SIP Trunk Groups > {Group #} > Trunk Group Configuration > Trunks and it will increment up.

Setting up a 5000 with an Asterisk can be done, but since I do not work on Asterisk I don't know how they set it up on their side.

Thanks,

TE

I am very familiar with Asterisk as that is the phone systems I am used to.

Do you have any documentationon how to setup the Mitel side?

I cant login to the mitel site so I cannot get the technician setup guide.

Also I only have 2 trunks in my Mitel Still dont see why I cannot do more than 0 on sip trunk. I am licensed for 4.

i actually dont see trunks in this location -
"SIP Peer > SIP Trunk Groups > {Group #} > Trunk Group Configuration > Trunks and it will increment up."

cgashlin01,

There isn't a guide for specifically setting up the 5000 with an Asterisks on the Mitel site. Normally we work with the Asterisks Technician/Engineer to determine what each system is capable of doing and then configure it from there.

If you can tell me how you setup your Asterisk I can help you set up the 5000 side. To be honest though the 5000 doesn't require a lot of programming to get the trunks up and working and most of it would be in the Call Configuration of the SIP Peer Trunk Group. The biggest thing, really the only thing, is to set the DTMF Encoding to RFC2833 and Speech Encoding to G.729.

Thanks,

TE
