Extension Goes into DND by its self.
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:12:58 AM »
I'm not sure why this is happening but, I have a extension 321 that has been setup as a testone that some users use to test microphones, the directory 321 does not go DND but some how it is linked to another directory number 8814 that does go into DND and when that happens all of the microphone tests fail. I'm not sure why this extension is going into DND and it only happens once every few months. I have gone through the logs but nothing seems to stand out, I get no warnings or alarms. Does anyone know what could be happening?

Just so that I'm clear in my understanding, what kind of microphones and what kind of testing are you talking about?
I'm trying to understand what that means.

What type of phone are you using?
Do you also use any software such as UCA?

Basically its various audio processors that call out to a direct line extension at our office at various times through the night to test some conference rooms. The extension is setup with a tone generator as the sound when you call the number, this has been working very well for the last few years. We use 5224 IP Phones however the extension doesn't have any phone associated with it. We use CCM for our agents and we use a OIG application that I built to monitor incoming calls.

There is a FAC that does remote DND.
You may want to try just changing that code.
There isn't any way to see what device is putting the phone in DND so if there is something or someone misdialing the code that will stop it.
I don't remember if there is a COS mark that will disable the phone from going into DND.   You might also want to look at that.

I looked at my Feature Access Codes and found a entry for Do Not Disturb-Remote the Value is #*5 . Do you know what this value is specifying?
I also noticed that there was only one other phone in DND at the time that I found the problem, I looked at the Keys but nothing is connected to that key.

#*5<extn> is the FAC to put a remote remote phone in DND.

If you don't know of a specific reason to use it then I'd remove it.

Yeah I took it off, Thanks I'll give it a try. Do you think that feature would need to be entered by someone on our network or can you enter it from a external

Generally you'd need to enter it somewhere on the network.
Technically it could be done but the setup to do it would be pretty unusual.
