PolyCom Soundstation IP 5000 on Mitel 5000CP - Soft Keys
« on: October 24, 2014, 09:08:00 AM »
We have a PolyCom Soundstation IP 5000 connected to our Mitel 5000 CP via SIP. Is there any way to program/customize the keys on it? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find a yes or no answer on this. The issue we are having is on the Polycom phone there is a 'New Call' key, which is fine and dandy, but if the party needs to call an outside line they have to press '8' first. We were hoping we could add a soft key that says 'Outside Call' or something like that instead of telling them to press 8.

This is a SIP phone, it works a little differently... To make changes to the keys you would have to change it's configuration files if it isn't something you can do via the web interface. Polycom has reference documents on their site for this, they are quite a read. I have never done this in the SS IP5k phones, but we make changes to other SoundPoint devices all the time on our hosts SIP platform. This would also require a tftp/http server for the phone to grab it's configs from, I don't know for sure you could load the profiles on the 5000 (it is possible on the 3300).

Perhaps it would be easier just to set it as a House Phone and set the number to 8? Then any time a call is sent, it goes directly out.

Ah I see. If I set it up as a house phone will they still be able to dial extensions? Sorry if I sound like a noob :)

Veroden,

It should act the same as any other phone in that regard so have them press * and then it will give them service order tone from the 5000 to dial extensions or a FAC.

Thanks,

TE
