accessing paging linbe from 5224 via SIP mode
« on: November 16, 2013, 01:52:57 PM »
We recently deployed a SIP IP IPX to replace our Mitel 3300 phone system.  Our Mitel 3300 ICP is still on the network, however, the phones are in SIP mode.  We need the ability to access the paging system from the 5224 phones when in SIP mode.  Is this possible?  If not is there a work around?  I thought about plugging an analog pots line into a port on the 3300 ICP.  Then have it to where if that line rings it would then ring the paging line.  Then the users using 5224 phones in SIP mode would just call that line and it would ring the paging line... It sounds like a long shot but thought it might be possible but not sure how to do it..  Hopefully there is another way.

Paging is accesible from feature access codes so should be available in sip mode...just make sure that the feature code is different to everything on the IPX

and that the 5224 is registered to the 3300 as well in sip mode.

actually I am not so sure that would work.

Might ask why, but not going to. You should be able to register a trunk as a sip extension on the 3300 and use it for paging.

Huh? So you have a SIP IP PBX, ok, and 5224's in SIP mode but not sure I understand where the paging interface is or what PBX the Mitel phones are running off of? Also what is the interface to the paging system?

If the 5224's are running in SIP mode on the 3300 then as x-man says its a SIP feature if the paging uses the paging port. If its is using a SAM or TAM then the phones should be able to access paging by dailing the correct number if the necessary ARS is in place.
