Embedded Media Sources Memory Error
« on: October 22, 2013, 05:38:19 PM »
Hey everyone,

I have this unusual issue with our Mitel 3300 system where it won't release memory after removing an embedded media file.

I have 4000kb total of which I have a file of 815kb loaded, I previously had a 1483kb file loaded and after removing it, the system won't release that memory back to me. I have tried deleting the empty slots that shows an error that nothing is there. I have removed the file I do have loaded and it still won't release the memory.

We have rebooted the system and it did no good.

Only thing I can think of is to turn it off and back on again. That's a last resort. Any ideas that I should try before I do that?

Thanks,

If I remember correctly this was an old bug.   What version of software are you running?

To resolve you'll have to FTP into the system and delete the files manually.

I'll look to see if I have a "how-to" for this.

I just went through my docs and couldn't find it.
Hopefully someone else here can provide it.

It's been bugging me that I can't find my notes on this but I did find the directory.
FTP to /db/emoh.
You should find your files there.
I believe you need to delete the old ones from there.
Make a note that the file names won't be what you would hope but if you DL them first you can play them IF you play them in "raw" format.

I think that my audio was uLaw wav 16 bit instead of 8 bit so the file is sitting as an unrecognized format so the system can't delete t because it doesn't know what it is. (Just a theory)

You rock, the black box guys couldn't tell us this. And big thanks to the fact that it was bugging you so much that you came back and answered your own reply an hour later.

I'll FTP into the system tomorrow and see if this fixes it. I'll come back and post the outcome so this thread can be an answer base for anyone else that might run into this.

Yes.  The file needs to be 8bit mono u-law or a-law.  It should have told you that when you tried to upload it though.
