Is there a way we can change the outgoing caller ID number and name using PRI?

Hi,

To specify different caller IDs for individual extensions go to System - Devices and Feature Codes - Phones and click on the individual extension.  Change the Calling party number.

In the UK you only need to put the number of digits your carrier are sending.  EG if the carrier is sending 6 digits for your DDIs then you only need to put 6 digits in there.

If you want a blanket change for all you could do it on the trunk group (if the phone one is blank) go to CO trunk groups and change the calling party number there.  The same applys to the name but I have never used that.  Change calling Part Name.

Regards

Chris.

It depends on what your carrier supports.

Apologies for jumping into a thread but I too am looking to change the calling party number.  I have done this successfully in the past for UK numbers (in the way that was described by chrismitel) but I am having issues with a US number.  Is there a way that I can confirm if a carrier will accept the number and also what format the carrier is expecting the number in?

Thanks

In my experience, in the US all outgoing Caller ID must be the 10 digit phone number (NPANXXXXXX). Not all carriers allow this by default, and the ones that do typically require the number be one of the numbers on that PRI.

On my AT&T PRIs, I can put any number for outbound Caller ID (even if it’s not on the PRI) and it will work.
