Mitel 5000 Traffic Reports
« on: April 30, 2013, 10:47:01 AM »
We took over a 5000 for service.   There are two different carriers connected but no one is sure if they both have traffic.
Is there a way/report to show if a trunk or trunk group has usage on it?

Each node will keep SMDR reports on the flash card for 7 days, which shows the information you need. Launch Mitel System Administration and Diagnostics (otherwise referred to as System Manager), pick the node under System Connection, then click the Reporting tab. Click the left PSTN Call Records tab.  Click on the date text towards the top and choose Show all days (you'll get 7 days as I mentioned)  then in further down click the filter icon next to the Trunk heading and type in the trunk number to see if it has been used.

Thanks bhackbarth,
What's interesting is the PSTN reports only shows incoming calls.   I can't believe they never make a call.

Hi Ralph,

Check System -> Maintenance -> SMDR   make sure all the "Record All" options are set to Yes except for Record All Ring-In Diagnostics and Record All Human-Answer-Supervision Calls. I would leave those two at No unless you really need them.

If that's all good, check the Devices folder in SMDR and make sure there's the default Extension List All Phones is there to cover everybody, or if it's custom make sure the Answering phones are added to the list.

The only other thing I can think of is if you use ARS to dial out on another node's trunk group, that remote node will end up with the outgoing call records since that's where the trunks reside making the call.

Kind Regards,
-Brayton

It looks like it was set to record out going calls.
I've attached a screen shot.

Ahh, that screenshot helped!  Set "Output To System Manager" to Yes.   That should solve it.

Kind Regards,
