Call forward

Good Morning all.

I'm sorry for the stupid question, but I can't figure this out at all!?

I have a DDI which comes into a hunt group in which all phones ring at once, I would like after 30 seconds it to overflow to a system speed dial. I can't see the option for this anywhere, am I being dense?

It doesn't work that way in the 5000... You want to recall the hunt group to a phantom extension, then use phone remote programming to call forward always the phantom to an outside number. Should be good to go.

At least that explains why I can't see the option!

I'll give it a whirl with the phantom extension and see what the score is.

Hi,

I've set up the phantom extension and allowed it access to lines etc, as per manual.

I can't see where the forward to a speed dial is. it appears the ext uses call forward rule 3, but I can't see how to forward this to speed dials.

Any pointers?

You don't forward it to speed dial, you will do remote station programming and forward it to a specific number manually, if you need to change the number frequently you will have to do that manually as well... just make sure to set a station password on the phantom then do this from any other feature phone (digital or IP, with a display makes it easier but is not required):

359 (Remote Programming feature code)
xxxx (Phantom Extension)
yyyy (Phantom ext password)
355 (Call Forward All Calls Feature Code)
8+zzzzzzz (destination number)

Should take care of it for you.

Can I program a System Speed Dial to do this for me?

Example: Customer has a phone (I'll call that the "Emergency" phone) that when a button is pressed it calls whomever's extension is on "standby".  This can change daily as to whom. So, I created a phantom extension (2110 with passcode 2110).  On the "Emergency" phone I made all the keys, when pressed, dial the phantom extension.  Then, on a PKM48 at the front desk, I created a key that when pressed selects a system speed dial that dials this string (i.e. 359211021103552400), which should forward x2110 to x2400. 

Will this work?

No, the 5000 will not allow any feature codes to be in a speed dial string. Sorry, but this will have to be done manually each time the destination is changed. If you are on newer software, you could configure the Configuration Assistant with an extension number and user's might find this way of changing the forwarding easier than the Remote Programming method.

Also, be wary of "double forward hopping" in the 5000 (recall to a CFA extension that goes to another extension that is CFA), as well as setting a CFA destination in DND, it can have questionable results, sometime working and other times not and sometimes resulting in unexpected behavior.

Configuration Assistant is definitely the way to go. You can program a DSS key for local access, and use a digit translation for remote access via auto attendant. I have several offices that change their on-call daily, and some that split weekend coverage. They used to drive to the office to change call forwarding; now they do it by cell phone.

Just to clarify - this "emergency" phone is an internal extension.

I actually get this to semi-quasi work using Station Speed Dial.  In Bin 0, I have it dialing 35921102110#355.  It will then ask me to enter the station to fwd to.  If only I had enough digits in the station speed dial to enter the 4 digit ext #.

Okay, found an acceptable way to accomplish this.

I set a station speed dial button to dial 35921102110#355

I then programmed a key to be this station speed dial bin

I then have keys programmed as a DSS key for those extensions.

You press the first button programmed as Station Speed Dial Bin 0, it asks for destination, you then press the appropriate DSS key.  BAM!  It worked!
