Mitel is pleased to announce the new 5300 e-Series IP Phones with Embedded Gigabit. The 5320e, 5330e and 5340e IP Phones deliver all the same features that are available on the current 5320, 5330 and 5340 IP Phones, but with powerful new enhancements. Embedded Gigabit support, Wideband Audio on the new 5320e IP Phone, double the amount of RAM for future features and applications support as well as IPv6 support are just some of the exciting new features of the e-Series IP Phones.

More RAM.   So when do we get to see an Android version?

Ralph

In the ever revolving world of Mitel reps and the introduction visits they make, one mentioned to me that it was coming. Of course, that was last year.

What would you like the phone to do (not to steal the thread from you Ralph) with the Andriod OS?

I would like to see an embedded camera and video chat app for say the 5360 or new model phone that ties into the current UC suite.

So does anyone know if these will work on on older 3300, like a release 8 or 9?

it states 'backwards compatible with 5330' etc but I am guessing that it just means you could program them as a 5530 and not a 5330e like when the 5312's & 24's came out.

sounds good... i have a customer that wants to be able to pass through Gig-E on half-dozen or so phones and is on a 3300 at release 9, so they should work... will let him know.

Ace, I would get this confirmed first. Although it states backwards compatible, whether the NIC will run at Gig on older systems I do not know. I know its hardware but still......

The software version on the 3300 won't limit the fact that it can do a gig or not, but either way I would dangle it as a carrot to get them to upgrade to "support" these new handsets.
If they work on 9 without an upgrade that's all good, but it could be a way to get them to upgrade as well.

Lol... I am betting that is exactly what our sales person did. He went out there a couple days ago and talked to them, the were on an MX controller and now I just got an order come through to install a new MXeIII to replace the old MX and 3 years software assurance.

Did anyone get an answer on whether these are usable on older systems?

I helped a sales person build up a 5000 today and when we went to print it out, it popped up that the 5330 and 5340 sets were discontinued products?

I have lots of older systems out there that people want to add phones too, can they just use the 'e' series?

FYI to anyone interest in the details on this....

Mitel 5330e/5340e phones are supported as regular 5330/5340 phones with the following requirements.

Mitel 3300 MCD 4.0 SP1
Mitel 5000 Release 4.0
Mitel Border Gateway 6.0

In the above environments it will run in 10/100 mode only, Gigabit is not supported.

To be used as 5330e/5340e (Gigabit phones) the following minimum softwares are required:

Mitel 3300 MCD 5.0 SP2
Mitel 5000 Release 5.1
Mitel SX-200 ICP Release 5.0 UR2 (Sales Engineering was unsure if Gigabit would be supported or not)
Mitel Border Gateway 7.1

There is no support for the 53XXe phones in any release prior to those listed above as they are no longer supported software revisions by Mitel, and there will be no further development in firmware or software to make these phones work on non-supported software releases.

This is from Mitel Sales Engineering.
