Check it out.  Says chat now supported.  Can anyone figure that one out?

Kurt upgraded our system this week so I loaded it on my desktop.
Chat's pretty cool there.
He said the Android app wasn't avail yet for the latest version.
Where'd you find it?

It's in the android market which is now the Google play store thingy.  I believe that mobile chat only works with Mas 4 which is so new no one is using it.  But yes regular chat is great.

Did you upgrade to MAS 4.0?  The one just released?  It's really really new, but I'm interested.  I'm pretty sure my new lease includes all upgrades, so maybe later this year?

I've sent Kurt a PM asking him to jump in on this conversation.
He upgraded our system to the latest and has been playing with it.

Yea the app supports Chat.  The new version is already on the market.  I've got it functioning up to the point that it wants to work.  :)   I mean that I need to upgrade my MBG to the latest of v7.1 I think it is, in order to support the new Chat connectors in Web Proxy and MBG.   So minor caveat, requires latest of MBG and UCA.

Is there a new UCA too?  Maybe that's what I need and not MAS 4

UCA is now supported with a bunch of additional apps in MAS 4.0.

If your UCA is Stand-Alone you can move it into and co-house existing MAS 4.0 server now.  If you do not have a MAS 4.0 server, or wish your UCA to remain standalone, you can just upgrade the MSL and UCA blade.

I'll try and describe what we have now, which is a MAS 3.0 Virtual Machine in my VMWare Environment.  The UC Server is a "blade" (I think) in the MAS 3.0 environement.

We also have another MAS 3.0 Physical server handling the AWC (because the AWC was not yet approved for a VM).

Our PBX is the Mitel/InterTel 5000.  No MBG or Teleworker or anything like that.

And this was all installed Nov/Dec of last year, so it's only a few months old, and I've only really now just got it working the way it should.

I'd like to learn more about the MAS 4.0 and then consolidate the AWC into the VM and get these new capabilities of UCA working.  Now that it's all working and configured correctly, I'm curious as to how easy the upgrade would be.

I'm curious how you were able to upgrade this because it is so new.  The press releases are only now coming out.  Is the UC client different too?  I saw a version 5 advertised.  We're at 4.X.

Thanks.  Interesting stuff.

MAS 4.0 and UCA 5.0 are both available for download/upgrade from Mitel.

Included in UCA 5.0 are the new clients.  There is a new Desktop Client, Web Client Portal, and iOS/Android Client [available on their respective AppStore/Google Play].

I'd have to review the MAS 4.0 Engineering guidelines to provide such specific details/recommendations.  I'd also have to know the configuration of each of your MAS servers [i.e. the blades on each, and if they are LAN only, DMZ, Network Edge, etc.]

Do access UCA from outside of your office?

Yes right now we have two users using UCA outside of the office.  It's a well documented thread on this forum where I've tortured everyone with my progress.

Can you provide a link to the portion of the Mitel site where you download?

Thanks.

If your server is in communication with the AMC via ServiceLink, you can download the upgrade through MSL under the Status/Blades menu's.  You can usually find the release notes link there as well.

If you need to download the CD's/DVD's, or to access Release Note/Engineering Guides, then you will need a valid login to Mitel's website @ www.mitel.com

I found servicelink and see that the UC Server is currently at 4.x and an upgrade to 5.x is available.  There's just button that says "upgrade" which seems a little risky to me.

There's also a servicelink upgrade for itself too.  I'll need to research a little before I move forward.  Mitel may not want me doing this and may want to do it themselves.  I don't want to void any warranties.

Neat stuff!
