Softphone Wireless headset with remote answer
« on: January 25, 2012, 09:22:17 AM »
I have a customer that is in an all soft phone environment.   They have users that need to be able to answer their phone while they're away from their desk similar to how we use a Mitel DECT headset.
Does anyone know if this is possible or what product to use to do that?
I'm thinking possibly blue tooth (not much distance on that).

Anyone done this?

Ralph

While I have no experience with this particular need, I am assuming that a higher end BlueTooth device would be the answer.  BlueTooth is the only way I know how to go wireless with a PC.  If I pair a BlueTooth headset to my smartphone, I can answer it that way.  So why not pair it with a PC.

The only way to validate it would be to take a $30 BT ear piece lying around, pair it to the PC, and then attempt to answer the call.

This is a pretty cool idea.  The sets are cheaper than the plantronics DECT sets too, though there may be a reason for that.
