Multicall number and MSG lamps
« on: February 03, 2011, 08:36:37 AM »
Hi all

3300 on MCD 4.1

I have a customer who has a hunt group with call rerouting first alt to a multicall number that is not associated with any device and appears on several sets as an overflow if all hunt group members are not available.

The multicalls are associated with a mailbox and they in turn have first alt to voice mail.

So as a result of this when a msg is left the embedded VM lights up the msg lamp of the phone that has the first appearance of the multicall.

Several phones have a button for msg waiting for another ext for the multicall number.

The problem is that if a user listens to the msg via this button the VM does not turn off the msg lamp on the of the phone that has the first appearance of the multicall and the user gets there are no messages.

Does anyone have a suggestion or work around

Thanks

Try making the multicall key an actual phone or analog line.   Then use a msg waiting button for the number.

Are you sure though that the key is not a member of a hunt group?
What you're describing is how we used to light hunt group msg lamps before there were msg waiting keys.

Thnks Ralph

As VM was lighting the msg lamp on the set that had the first appearance of the multicall line and the prime line of the set also has VM. So user picks up and enters there VM password and no msg !!

Adding a msg waiting button for the multicall on the required sets eliminated the issue. Not sure why ? but is works
