We are installing a new MiTel system with a 3300 CX2 and we want to be able to page to the selected sets in a group and to overhead speakers at the same time. Is there any hardware to do this?

You cannot do this unless you have a device within the page group where the speaker leads feed the overhead paging amplifier

It depends on what model phones you have and what type of paging interface.

You can do it with a 5485 IP Page Adapter and pretty much any model phones, put the 5485 in a page group with the phones and connect the output to your paging system.

Or, if you have 6900 series phones and are running MiVB 9.1 or newer, you can use an Algo 8301 as your paging interface and a multicast paging server and do multicast paging to the 6900 series phones.

Another alternative is "donate" an older low-end set like a 5312 to the cause... open it up and cut off the speaker leads and connect a piece of jumper wire and feed the paging that way... Then add that 5312 user to the page group. We have done this in several instances, usually best to wall mount it and put it in the phone room... sometimes ty-wrap the handset down so people don't mess with it.

We will be using 6920 or 6930 sets. Is the 5485 still available?

Not new, but you may be able to find refurbished units from grey market vendors (Dean Enterprises, iStream, etc.). If you have 6900 series sets you can use the Algo 8301 multicast option.

Some paging systems accept an analog line too so you could create an analog extension and put that in the page group.

I don't think a direct page will ring an analog phone
