Packet Capture on MCD
« on: May 29, 2018, 01:25:46 PM »
I remember Mitel Tech support doing a packet capture via the MCD and then using FileZilla to download it from the MCD, but I can’t remember how they did it.

Does anyone know how this is done? I need to trace calls on a Console phone.

Thanks,

TE

basically log on to the switch IP with filezilla using the normal password and user name and then go to the directory where the capture is saved and just download it from there to your PC (possibly in the /temp/ directory..)

I can't remember where its stored but am fairly sure you will find it when you search. I think they are saved as *.pcap files.

In the Maintenance Commands run a
SIP TCPDUMP ON
Do your testing and when done
SIP TCPDUMP OFF

FTP to the MCD/3300 and go to the /vmail directory
the file will be named WS_{date}_{timestamp}.pcap

Sarond,

That is what I was looking for, but for a MiNet phone or does the SIP TCPDUMP work for MiNet phones too.

I figured out the problem they were having without the trace, but it would be good information to have.

Thanks,

TE

MiNet phones won't show in the SIP trace.

I believe without encryption turned on in System Options you could decode the stream as RTP but that is more for recording calls rather than signalling.
