Encryption
« on: August 14, 2008, 12:06:35 PM »
We recently discovered that encryption is not turned on( we were told it was).  We are looking to implement and I am wondering if anyone has any advice or known pitfalls.  Also I am not sure how it will impact our network.

You can turn it on and off without any impact to the LAN. If you are concerned just do it at a low traffic period.

Encryption is turned on by default when the ICP in installed. So someone has turned it off. Turning it on, I would agree with v2win, there should be no impact to the network.

Encryption, should really be turned on especially if you are using anything other than PSTN to route your external calls. Internally, you have the safty of your trusted firewall to stop any hackers.

I just turned it on and off several times while on a call with no problems.

Watch your 3rd party applications.  Most will be fine - but things like Call Recording can be impacted....
