Bria Softphone with Multiple Calls
« on: December 06, 2016, 01:15:40 PM »
I have a customer that is trying to use a Bria softphone from their desktops.
They are unable to manage multiple calls. In other words, if they want to place or receive a second call after putting the first call on hold, the first call is dropped as soon as they enter the digits for the new call or click to answer if the new call is an incoming call.

According to CounterPath Tech Support, the Bria 4 client supports up to 5 simultaneous calls, so I don’t think it is a limitation of the client software.

Have you encountered this before in the field? Is there any programming on the MCD that I might be missing for the SIP Generic Phone?

Hi Ralph, I would try sniff the SIP signalling and analyze it in Wireshark to see what could be wrong. Especially when the second call is about to be established.

Unfortunately sniffing it isn't going to be an option.
Both the controller and the users are at least 1000 mile away.

do you have additional multicall keys programmed to the generic sip extension?

pretty sure for most sip devices you need at least 1 additional button programmed as multicall of the Device extension set to ring

That might be the answer.  I didn't think of using multicall buttons.
Thanks.

Don't you have remote access or anybody onsite cannot run SIP TCPDUMP ON command?

That I do.  I don't know why I didn't think of that.  Too distracted I suppose.

Yes usually you need multicall keys. Even for Mitel own softphone and UC360 whatever its name.
