Override DND for paging
« on: November 02, 2016, 09:52:00 AM »
I have a customer that is using paging in their office for safety concerns. However, a lot of the staff tend to put their phone in DND.
Is there a way someone can use an override command so that paging calls reach all users?

Sorry, Do Not Disturb by definition prevents you from being disturbed, even by paging,  There is no way to change this.  Also, anyone on a call won't hear pages.  If security is a concern I'd suggest adding "overhead" paging throughout the facility so that everyone can hear.  Valcom, Viking and others can interface with the PBX so a single page from a phone will go to speakers plus any available phones.

If users forward calls to VM instead of using DND, they can still receive pages... Otherwise what dwayneg says is accurate.

Paging through phones should never be considered part of a safety or emergency plan, as a phone in use or DND will not receive pages. Entire sections of the building could be without coverage.
