remote location
« on: April 26, 2010, 11:44:17 AM »
I am new to IP phones.  I have a point to point T1 connecting a remote facility.  They have requested phone service.  I have a 5330 and a 3300.  The 5330 works great when it is on site and on the same vlan.  Is there a way to configure it to work at the remote site?

Thanks in advance
Mark

The simpliest way is to boot the phone while holding the 7 key.  It will ask you if you want to configure the set as a Teleworker phone.  Say "yes".   Enter in the IP address of your 3300 and save.   The phone will then be looking at the 3300 for it's programming.

everything on the phone system and the remote location is static.  Do I assign a static ip from the remote location as the phone ip along with the remote default gateway?

Ralph's configuration would require a DHCP server to get the phone working.

To set the phone statically hold down the volume up arrow when booting the phone that will get you into a configuration menu.

All this time I was looking for this answer and I guess I just never asked the question. I did not know that you could substitute your 3300 IP for the teleworker IP on the phone and have it boot up.

I had gotten remote IP phones to register with our main 3300 controller, but I had a DHCP server handing out the OPtion 128, 125, etc...

I was trying to get some IP phones at sites connected via VPN to register with our main 3300 controller. I am using our teleworker server, but I never thought to use the 3300 as the teleworker IP?

What is the pro/con of using this setup.

Phone >>> VPN device >>> Corp LAN >>> 3300

Phone >>>Internet >>>>Teleworker >>>>3300
