3300 Embedded Voicemail forwarding to Microsoft Office 365?
« on: August 18, 2015, 09:43:50 AM »
Just wondering if it's possible to do simple SMTP voicemail forwarding between 3300 Embedded and Microsoft Office Hosted 365?  The IT staff gave me the email server address to forward emails to however they don't work.  Just wondering if it will work at all.  Just wondering if there is a way to check logs for errors?  Any help appreciated

So they have set up a SMTP relay internally for you to send mail to? Have they allowed the IP address of the mitel to relay mail through it? Also are other devices able to relay mail through it without issues?
It could be that they have not created a SPF record to allow for the relaying to work, or that the domain that the emails are sending from is not valid, so it is being rejected.

There are a few things it could be.

That will more than likely be the problem. Is the address just some random mail relay, or something else? Have they created an SPF record for that address to allow mail to be sent from that IP?

Also port 25 may be blocked by the isp. I always like to have an account setup that can be used to send from. That way if you need a relay to change from smtp to ssmtp it is eaisier to test and verify

Yes its absolutely possible, I have it working here. You will need to add an an Inbound connector to your 365 Exchange portal (Under Mail Flow) and allow relay from certain addresses.

I have the 3300 sending alarm to Email account however voicemail to email doesn't make it.  I have the Network VM Server setup and email server address in system options set.  Is there a log file that will show for sure that the voicemail to email left the PBX?
