MCD Login Issue

Hello All,
We updated to a newer version of MCD and keep getting this when we attempt to login:



The only way to fix that we know is to simply reboot. I just wanted to see if anyone else is getting this, and if so what you did to either fix or address?

Hi,

In my experience, this happens to me when I restart a controller and try to login via the ESM before it has completely restarted. I usually just wait and after a few minutes I'm able to login. You may need to connect a serial cable and use something like putty to see whats going on.

As stated above, you get this message when the controller has not fully booted yet. I know it can sometimes take 10 minutes or so to fully reboot. Does it stay in this state until you reboot, beyond 10-15 mins, or if you give it enough time will it allow you to log in.

Also as stated, if you putty into it, you can watch it post each section of the boot process and see if an error occurs.

However, this MCD was not re-booted. Additionally the customer never complained of the phones going down that day. Any other potential causes? The current Release Level is...

I am running 6.0 SP3 on all my controllers still, so I can't comment on the 7.0 release. Could it possibly be something in that release? I have only seen this is the scenario we listed above.

I've seen this many times when an SDS share / sync is being done to the controller.  SDS share takes priority on the system.

I've also seen when the SDS share is done but gets "stuck".  On the master sync, you actually get an error/failure message.  But the end controller just hangs.

RTC shell does not show any activity either.

Fix is to reboot the system from the RTC shell, either "@" or reboot.
