Block incomming call phone number ?
« on: November 20, 2014, 12:12:52 PM »
3300 MXe 2-Clustered Rel 4.2 / 10.2.0.26_2  EMB-VM 6-SX200 10-ASU

I searched the DB for this, but didn't find anything. We want to block a single phone number. I've never looked at doing this. Is is possible ?

Can the system maybe use the call id and route the call to never never land somehow ?

PS, that's Ralph for the VM reply.

Well....
As it happens, within the last two months I figured out how to do it.  Have tested it and it works great.
But there is a problem.   I've been asked by my company to keep this close to the vest for a while so unfortunately I can't disclose how to do it.
At this point I'm pretty sure that Tech Support won't be able to explain how it's done either.

But I'll give you the starting point.   If you don't have SIP trunks then it isn't going to happen.

If I can ever get the clear, I'll post a How-To.

Sorry.
Ralph

Not SIPs, so all good for now.

Thanks Ralph.

Ralph, without giving too much away I assume MBG is involved?

Wasn't that hard.  I suspect that it's simply no one else thought of it.

Not really. I think that they should put in an IVR like in MiCCM on the 3300. Take out the premium features but leave ANI/DNIS/Scheduling and the playing of recordings. Maybe limit it to a few recordings. That would be a great feature.

Starting in MCD version 6.0 you can modify incoming DID numbers so you don't have to use system speed dials any longer.
But, there is also a feature in there that allows you to manipulate the incoming caller ID.  Why?  I'm still clueless but somebody must have needed it.
Now, I suggest they modify their incoming DID modifications rules to look at the incoming caller ID and if it finds a match simply allow us to change the destination number.   Then when a block call hits the switch we simply change the destination number to something invalid.
Bada Bing, Bad Boom! - the caller is blocked.

That would be better than how I did it.

Maybe we should all get together and flood Mitel with DCR request.
