Hanset Mute
« on: March 07, 2014, 11:55:02 AM »
We have an SX-2000 LIGHT cabinet and a 3300MXe controller.

System relink: No Relink has been applied.
Call Control relink: 37.1.6.9_SP1

I had an executive request a MUTE button for his handset calls. I confirmed that he wanted the ability to mute a handset call and not a hands-free call. I did some research, a few boards suggested that I just use the MICROPHONE button to mute a handset call, but that did not work. Nor did I think it would.

We are using Superset 4025 phones. I found the user guide, and it says.

Quote
Handset Mute
To mute your handset's microphone during a call:
  • Press the Handset Mute feature key.

To restore handset microphone operation:
  • Press the Handset Mute feature key again
I used the SUPERKEY to view the key assignments. He does not have a key that is assigned as HANDSET MUTE. I tried to program a personal key, but MUTE, and HANDSET MUTE did not show up as an available assignment.

I checked the following forms and neither MUTE or HANDSET MUTE show up.
  • Multiline Set Key Assignment
  • Feature Access Code Assignment
  • Class of Service Options Assignment
  • System Options Assignment
Is it possible that this is a feature that needs to be bought?

I found a thread on "tek-Tips" http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1634655 One of the members mentioned that "handset mute" may not be available on the SS 4025.  Can anyone confirm this?

I don't think it is an available feature for the model phone on the 3300

I think you're right. I know it works on the 5212 and up IP sets, it may work on the 4150 as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Would it be a shortcoming of the model of ICP, the model of Phones or a combination of the two?

It is only supported on ip sets on the 3300 is what I gather from the documentation.

In this case, a limitation of the phone. But that being said, that 3300 software release is about 8 years old and no longer supported.

I don't think it's a limitation of the phone, but more a limitation of the 3300 software as opposed to 2000 or 200 digital systems. That feature would work with that set on those systems.

Current version would be MCD V6 and is the last version supporting 2000 cabinets. You are at 3300 V7, 3300 went to V9 before requiring 512M RAM. Then the software became MCD V4.

Current software still won't support handset mute on those sets.

It's not really hard to follow if you were around during the Sx100 days.
