Delay when dialing certain phones from 3300 to 200ICP
« on: September 24, 2014, 12:31:17 PM »
I have an environment with a 3300 and a 200ICP.  When dialing 2 extensions on the 200 from the 3300, there's a delay of 9 seconds before the call completes.  The calls are directed to the 200 via the ARS Digits Dialed form.  We have hundreds of other extensions set up like this which work fine.  Any thoughts?

You probably have a digit conflict.
Test by dialing the number and pressing "#" to see if that speeds it up.

That works!

The numbers are 588 and 389 - there are no 4-digit numbers 588x or 389x - where could the conflict be?

Could be several places. From the 3300 in Maintenance Commands, type in "Dgt Trace [DN]", and see what it says. If you're 3-digit DN's show the correct routing, add a digit at the end and see if you get a different result.

This is what I get:

DGT Trace started:
Termination cannot be determined, more digits are required.
DGT Trace completed.

I figured it out by digging deeper with the DGT trace command.  I tried 3891 through 3899, and found the conflicting entry.  It was a 6-digit DN used for a DID line - I had created a few of those whose DNs were the PSTN number minus the first 4 digits.  That way there's no need for a speed call.  Thanks for your help, Ralph!

Well, I really fixed it now.  First I thought "oh, I'll just change the DN of the DID destination to a non-conflicting number, and create a speed call to send DID calls to that number.  That doesn't fix the problem, however, because now the speed call conflicts with the DN.  What I did was RTFM, and discover that there's a mechanism for sending DID numbers to DNs without the use of speed calls.  First, enable the DID service in the Trunk Attributes form (easy to find), and then in the Direct Inward Dialing form, add all the DID numbers (in my case, the PSTN number minus the first 4 digits), along with the internal DN that you want it to go to.  That worked in the end.
