voicemail "please speak louder" message
« on: March 27, 2014, 06:35:00 AM »
Hi All,

If a call gets through to a mailbox, but the caller doesn't say anything they hear a recorded message saying "please speak louder. To append this recording press <whatever>, to cancel and rerecord this recording press <whatever>, to send this message now press #". If they do nothing the message gets sent.

How/where can this be disabled?

Thanks

WallIT,

I assume it is telling you that no message was left and then gives you the ANI of the caller.

To remove this function on each mailbox then go into the mailbox and turn off Deliver Hangup Message (when ANI is available).

Thanks,

TE

Thanks TE,

Can you explain what ANI is?

Also, when I look at a mailbox, the option slightly different to as you describe. "Deliver Hangup Message (When CLI is available)". This is set to NO on all mailboxes.

Thanks.

WallIT,

ANI - Automatic Number Identification
CLI - Calling Line Identification

Those to are the same thing, ANI is US and CLI is Europe.

So I assume you want to remove the recording to tell them to speak up?

I am not sure if I ever had anyone ask that one, but you could try turning off Play Recording Instructions as it may have something to do with that, but I doubt that is the fix. Other than that I do not believe there is a way to remove that recording.

Thanks,

TE

Thanks, TE.

All the Mailbox settings are set to No, with the exception of Mailbox Initialised. As you say, it may not be configurable.

Thanks anyway.

Not sure why a caller would arrive at a mailbox and not leave a message but then stay on the line long enough to hear the "Please speak louder" message.  Easiest way to not hear the message is to hang up.  That message is basically the voice mail saying "I can't hear you...would you talk a little louder", much more polite than voice mail just hanging up on you.
