Night service 2 message

Hi all,

I'm new to IP phones etc and have been tasked with setting up an out of hours message for the Christmas break.

I'm using a Mitel 5324 and I would like to record a message for the night service 2 to let people know the office is closed over Christmas/New Year.

I got into the administration system but it seems incredibly complex and in any case, I'll have to use the phone to record the message. Is there a manual on how to do this or could someone point me in the right direction?

Several ways to do this...are you using manual day mode/night mode or are you using a schedule to turn phones on and off each day?  And are you looking for just a message to play during the holiday or also a pre-holiday message to play the days before, announcing when you'll be closed?

Thanks for the reply.

We currently have a day service and night service which we manually switch over each night/morning.

We don't need to edit the existing night message but would like to record a brand new night 2 message.

Chris, we need more info. The 5000 only has Day & Night Modes. The 3300 has Day, Night 1, & Night 2. It sounds to me like you've posted a 3300 question in the 5000 section. Please provide us your system & version.

Hi 619Tech,

The handset I'm using is a 5324 IP Phone. I'm struggling to answer any more than that due to being a complete novice, sorry.

I was guessing the 5324 phone would be part of the 5000 section but perhaps the numbers are referring to something different.

Please let me know if you need more information and I'll try and uncover it.

Do you have access to database programming (admin)?  If so, log on and if it's a 5000, you'll see "OnLine 5000 CP" at the bottom right above the taskbar.

I access the admin panel by going to a local IP address and I'm afraid I can't see any mention of a system version on the page at all.

It doesn't sound like the database programming you mentioned...

Sounds like you have a 3300, also called MCD.  There's a separate forum here for that.  Easy test: with phone on-hook, dial 355.  If it asks where to forward ext it's a 5000, if it doesn't it's 3300/MCD.

Sounds like you have a 3300, also called MCD.  There's a separate forum here for that.  Easy test: with phone on-hook, dial 355.  If it asks where to forward ext it's a 5000, if it doesn't it's 3300/MCD.
Even more reliable test, with the phone idle press Feature/Special (the O with an x inside of it), if it says "Enter Feature Code:" it is a 5000 system, if it does nothing it's a 3300.

If this is a 3300 then just record a temporary greeting for the night mailbox and set it for x days. It will use the temp greeting until specified and then revert to the original greeting.

Assuming Embedded Voicemail.

Thanks for all the information. I spoke to a friend who told me I am indeed using a 3300 CXI(?) system but I really had no idea about the details.

I think I've found a way to record a temporary greeting. Will that take the place of the night service message straight away or do I have to activate it somehow?

It will be active immediately for the amount of days specified, you will be asked how long you want the greeting active for (in days 1-99) after you record your greeting.

Thanks for this.

I've managed to access the correct mailbox and set up a temporary greeting. I take it the greeting can be stored for more than 9 days (i.e. the system recognises keypress '2' and then '0' as 20 days)?
