How to find out what CID is on a specific line...

Is there any way to find out what CID is on a specific line?

Example, if someone pages "Joe, take line 2"

Can Joe, who see's the line blinking, check the CID before taking the line?

No. There is no way to see the caller ID of a call on hold in the 5000, but they should receive it as soon as they answer the call.

Not that I know of, but it sure makes logical sense.  This way you can prep for a call (ie, pull up the customer file) before answering.

Cool.  I've not tried this.

I thought there may be some feature code that would allow this like the "barge in" for calls, but rather just to inspect the CID of the line.  Would be nice even just to tell who someone is speaking with if their line is busy.

Sorry, not familar with the "superkey".  Are you talking the "X" key?

On the 3300, the Superkey on 5312/5324 and earlier phones is the Blue application key, on newer 5320/5330/5340/5360 phones the Superkey needs to be setup on a programmable key. This does not apply to the 5000, it does not have a Superkey.

I see.  I've always just called the blue button the program key, so good to know.

So with the 5000 there is no way to check who is on a call without actually selecting the line then, correct?

Well... no easy or convenient way that isn't more difficult than it's worth, unless you have a bunch of extra phones laying around. You could always put another phone on the desk (or in a visible area) and instead of just holding the line, do a Transfer to Hold to that extension, and if the person wanted to see the Caller ID before answering, look at that phone and if you want it do a Reverse Transfer of that extension. could work with a S/L phone with the ringer turned off or an analog CID box too, just transfer to that extension and make sure there is no forwarding path on it, probably best to set the Ringback Tone on the device to MOH as well.

What about using the Station Monitor Feature #321 some how?

We have a receptionist how answers the call, puts them on hold and pages "line 1 for Joe..." , could I do a station monitor to see who is on hold, or does the station monitor only work if the receptionist is actually talking on the line?

I tried the feature code and it tells me "Silent Monitor Rejected"

Is there something we have to enable to turn this on?

F1 is your friend. Open a help screen and search on the feature in question. You'll find a detailed description of what the feature does and how to program it.
