Syslog Server Recommendations
« on: September 08, 2015, 06:09:45 PM »
Does anyone have any recommendations for a syslog server?
I've used Kiwi but now I need to purchase a license.
It's a bit pricey for what I need it for.
I'd be happy with =< $50US.

I tried one from "The One Software" - not a good at Kiwi but only $39US.   I ordered the license key, paid for it but never got it.
They're not responding to contacts.

I haven't seen that one.
Thanks.   I'll check it out.

I ended up writing a Perl script to give me what I need.
I'm only monitoring 1 device and all I need it to do is capture it to a text file.

If anyone wants the script let me know and I'll post it.

Ralph,

As I was tearing through the OS of the 5000 I noticed this is the syslog they use within it.

http://www.rsyslog.com/

If it is good enough for the 5000 then it can't be too bad.

Thanks,

TE

Looks like that will only run on linux.
