Sorry.  Can't do that with an embedded VM system unless 6661 is the actual phone.
Is it?

Ralph,

6661 is an extension. My client said that it worked.
Example.
When the 6661 extension had a voicemail message, he pressed the message key, enter the password and press the option to hear the message.

Are you using the embedded VM?
Is the light light now but doesn't ring the VM when press?
Or doesn't it light up at all?

Are you wanting to know how to make the hardcoded MWI button on the phone work or are you wanting to add a new key? The hard button on the phone (clear with an envelope) will light once the VM sends the MWI activate FAC to the phone. Once it is lit you can press it and access the VM. Is that what you are looking for?
