outgoing calls only from a handset
« on: May 03, 2011, 04:18:01 PM »
I have a phone which is used by lots of people (think lunchroom or lounge). It has its own Caller ID. If the call's recipient calls back after seeing the Caller ID, the odds are extremely low that the dialer is still there.  I'd like to automatically send all calls to an information only mailbox.  However, internally, I still needs to be able to ring that extension or forward calls there.

how do I set that up?

Thanks

Take a look at the form "Associated Directory Number".
I don't remember which version of software this came into play but in there you can assign what number shows up as caller ID for individual numbers.
You have a drop down box with a selection of CPN substitution.

If you don't have it then you'll have to look at the form(s)
DID Ranges for CPN Substitution
CPN Substitution

ok. I have a Associated Directory Number Assignment form.
I added an directory number, say 301, and choose type "CPN Subst" and Associated number of 2485551111.
When I called out from that phone, the caller ID didn't change...

PS FYI - we use IMAT to set up our caller IDs. dunno if that's messing this up...

So you have an external Network Interface Unit (NIU).  In IMAT you should be able to program an extension to show whatever caller ID you want.

Changes in 2 places in IMAT under Config:

 - outgoing CPN Setup
 - Outgoing Call Charactoristics / voice

You set it up in the first form and activate it in the 2nd.

Remember that it processes them in order, so the first "match" in the one it uses.  Get's very complicated (IMHO) for larger or tenanted installs.

Hope this helps....

I was actually hoping to do this without programming the IMAT.  Can I leave the Caller ID the same and somehow set up that incoming calls from the outside get routed to its own voicemail (information only, actually), but internal calls go through?  If not, can I turn off the ringing on the line?

In the call rerouting always form select a new entry

Set the originating device of did co and tie to reroute and leave the internal to no reroute send it to voicemail or console

Assign the new entry to that phone under call rerouting for day night1 and night2

This will send all external calls to whatever destination you want and internal will still ring the phone
