5330 pkm
« on: March 18, 2011, 01:14:31 PM »
I have a 3300. The software was updated last night so I can use the above together. I have added the pkm to the device in the mgmnt interface.
How do I hook them together?

switch -> pkm -> 5330  I get no power to the phone

switch -> 5330 -> pkm the only way is the pkm in the pc port

Thanks
Tom

You need to add a PKM module to the back of the 5330. I has to be a newer revision as well to support the 5330/5340's I believe.

Well that just stinks. I have an older 48 pkm that I wanted to use. But it just has rj45 connections. So I guess the new one uses rj11?

Thanks

No its RJ 45 but you need the PKM module that goes into the phone.

Yes, that is the module that you would need. It plugs into the back of the phone.

so how does the old pkm attach to a 5324? Does it also need a sim module?

Yes, all IP Mitel phones that could take a PKM (5020, 5220, 5224, 5324, 5330 and 5340) need the phone module to control the PKM. Then, if you're going to use a dual 48-button PKM setup, you also need an external power supply for the PKM module.

ok let me see if i understand...

I got my 3300 in May 2009. One of my receptionist got a 5324 with a pkm 48. She did not want it and removed it. I never saw it up close hooked up or working.

You are saying that that if it was working on that 5324 there had to be a sim module installed?

If so I need to find it.

Thanks
Tom

Yes, there would be a module in the back of her phone. More than likely its still there.

You'll just need to remove your phones back cover plate and swap it with the module that's probably still on her phone.

When you remove it from her phone, you may need to pull on it a bit, as there is a hard plastic connector that the module plugs into. Same thing when you go to put it into your phone, you'll need to use a bit of pressure to fully seat that connector.

The button numbering is in the reverse order on the PKM's as it is on the phones. I.E. It starts in the lower left that goes up, and left to right.

Try going into button programming on the 5330 and making sure that it sees the button programming.

if have tried several keys with no avail.
the pkm should get power from phone (2 pkm's need the extra power)

i got my hands on the install pdf today and it states there has to be a cable from the phone to the snap in module on the 5330 and 5340.

so now i'm trying to fine one or make one. can anyone advise on this? is it a straight through??

thanks
tom
