CIM Connection Port
« on: October 28, 2021, 09:51:14 AM »
Dear:

Good morning, I am trying to configure an ASUS II via "CIM" on a Mitel Mxe III but I have no experience in these configurations, please your help with a manual or the steps that I must follow to configure.
And if you can confirm that:
1) Is the CIM cable a crossover cable?
2) What is the maximum distance the CIM cable reaches?

Thank you for the information you can give me.

Ethernet Crossover cable (not a std. cable) and can be located up to 30 meters (100 feet) long. Connect the ASU-II to the CIM 1 port then power up the ASU-II and the controller will auto-detect it.

The built-in HELP screen on the 3300 should be able to guide you from here.

Dear:

Do you know if there is a way to extend the distance of 30 m?

Thanks for your help.
An excellent afternoon.

Best Regards,
Santiago P

No, they are not IP based... It must be within 33m... It uses a proprietary ATM protocol to communicate. You used to be able to get a fiber interface that would could run for several kilometers, but that isn't available anymore.

If you tend to use it for distances more than 33m, you should check some third party devices to transmit layer 1 connections over fiber optic or etc.

Usually that works with IP but since these aren't actually IP based I have not been able to get those to work (I have tried). For analog connections over 30M you will have to use some nature of feeder cable (like a 25 or 50 pair copper cable) and then cross-connect to where your ASU terminates or you can use an analog to SIP adapter like the TA-7100 which goes on the network at the far end.
