We've found with the 6900 series phones, users are connecting whatever old headsets they had with their old phones and it all seems to work. At least they aren't pestering us about them.
And when we had a look, we found the same thing - plug it in and it works. With the old phones we used to have to create Headset keys for them, but these new phones don't seem to need that and the users find it intuitive enough to not need our help.

I know this is a bit old but thought I'd offer my experience.

We did a moderate deployment of several hundred phones in my company over the course of 2017.  Almost all 6930 with a limited set of users on the 6940.

We are having excellent luck with Plantronics CS500 series headsets using the APS-11 EHS cables to connect them.  Edit: We did have to configure the phone to DHSG=Enabled.

The 6940s are an exception to that, since Mitel didn't include EHS on them.  Those phones use Plantronics Savi headsets via USB in our environment and they mostly work, but clicking the headset without the phone ringing won't draw dial tone.  The phone stays on-hook.  Clicking the headset with a ringing call answers it, and dialing the phone with headset configured as the default path clicks it on so it's at least functional for them.

At the time, apparently there wasn't much documented information about what was supposed to work (per our vendor) so we went through some trial and error to get to this configuration.

Hopefully that's helpful to someone.

I started with a 6920 and for the wired headset I couldn't use a Plantronics A10 cord but I switched to a U10P cord and EncorePro headsets work.

I'm now looking at 6930/6940 phones and is it possible to have a Bluetooth headset pair directly to the phone like a Plantronics Voyager Legend? Are we able to use the USB on the phone to charge the headset?

Any feedback would be helpful, thanks!

This is what I was given:

Variant                   Manufacturer   Model                   Part Number
USB Wired Headset   Plantronics   Blackwire C725   202580-01
BT Headset           Plantronics   Voyager Legend   87670-01
BT Headset           Jabra           Motion UC           6630-900-105
BT Headset           Jabra           Evolve 65 UC           6599-829-409
EHS/DHSG            Jabra           Jabra Pro 9460 with EHS cable   9460-65-707-105 and 14201-10 (cable)
EHS/DHSG            Plantronics   CS540 with EHS cable   84693-01 and 37818-11 (cable)
Analog                   Plantronics    EncorePro HW 510 with U10 Disconnect   89433-01 and 26716-01 (cable)
Analog                   GN Netcom   2100 Series

This is an interesting list....I'm trying to get the Plantronics CS510, cousin to the mentioned CS540, with the 37818-11 cable and the APU-75 and neither works the way I expected with 6930 phones.

(I got the APU-75 from this ??german?? brochure: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiqg86w04_WAhWLzIMKHXMUA3QQFgg7MAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fde.ucc.westcon.com%2Fdocuments%2F55924%2FPlantronics_Headsetguide_2017.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEB7ic4_DJD3VJf3JlFwGkOlinvMg)

The pressing the headsets buttons does not get a reaction from the phone, but pressing the ringing line on the phone gets the headset to pickup.

Or is this the way it should work and I'm looking for more interaction than there should be?

I had similar results until I disabled USB audio in the headset menu. No idea why that would be set to disabled, but it seems to resolve the problem.
