Ring on internal phone before forwarding to external

Hi,

I'm using Mitel 3300 (Release level: 7.2 Active, software load: 13.2.0.17).

I would like to set up the call forwarding to an external number so it rings twice on the internal phone and then forwards to external.

My forward to external number works but it forwards right away, I would like to give user the possibility to pick up form the internal phone before it transfers.

Can someone please help me with that?

How are you forwarding the call?

It sounds like you are using call forward always.

You would need to use Call Forward No Answer or Call Rerouting 1st Alt.
Then you would need to copy the existing COS to a new one (otherwise every ones phones will forward too quickly) and assign it to this particular user.
Then change the "Call Forward No Answer Timer" to the desired time before you want it to go external.

I would suspect that the better way to do this would be to use call twinning.
It begins to ring the desk and at the same time routes the call to the external destination.
Depending on where you send the call to and how long the call set up time (cell phones take longer that land lines) you may have a couple of rings at the desk before the call starts to ring the external number.

I'm not familiar with Call Twinning on Mitel 3300, will look into it.

For now, I just copied my COS 1 to an empty one, change the Call Forward No Answer Timer to 8 seconds, moved some phones to that COS and switched from Call Forward Always to No Answer Forward Ext.

This is a workaround and is not the best solution, but it works for now.
