Headset circuitry question : 5320e VS 5324?
« on: August 22, 2016, 02:46:37 PM »
Hey guys,

I have a bunch of 5320e handsets, and users wanting headsets.  I'm looking at several, which say they're compatible with models 5324, 5330, 5340, and 5550 (among others).  Is there a reason that they would not work with the 5320e?  I understand that the 5320 is a basic model; is there a circuitry difference or something?

Thanks!
-J

Most generic headsets work fine.  There's a headset jack on the phone, and invoking the HEADSET feature code causes the regular SPKR button to go on-hook/off hook without any kind of handset lifter...just press the button to answer or hang up, or lift handset to use that.
The above directions don't apply, of course, if you're using one of the wireless headsets that REQUIRE a mechanical lifter...in that case don't change anything, and plug the headset transmitter into the handset jack, then handset into transmitter, and stick lifter in place.

Probably just the case of the 5320e is a fairly new phone and the headset manufacturers haven't updated their literature yet.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread... but for reference, in case others are looking:
- Jabra 2125
- Plantronics EncorePro 520
- AGPtEK IMG-HA0080-NB
- WirelessFinest T100

All these work, and work well.  (in order of price, from $99 to $15).  The audio quality of the last two are, as one would expect, somewhat less than pristine.

The reason that the Mitel headsets won't work with the 5320 phones is because the DECT module isn't compatible - no way to plug it in to the back of the phone.
