Sure - it's less a "mode" and more simply a case of how you program it - the MCD 5.0 SP2 release notes:
5320e, 5330e and 5340e will be available from MCD 5.0 SP2. These devices are compatible with the previous MCD releases. Prior to MCD 5.0 SP2, these devices should be programmed as 5320, 5330 and 5340 accordingly. On an upgrade to MCD 5.0 SP2, the database is converted automatically to 5320e, 5330e and 5340e respectively.
(So, if you do deploy them in backwards compatibility "mode" now, when upgrading at a later date to MCD 5.0, it should convert the set type automagically too.
