All they told me was the SOS logs had repeated entries that said:

"failed command: WRITE DMA"

A quick google says that error could be anything from a bad SATA cable or controller to a bad sector on the hard drive.

It may be worth noting the problem was very consistent. It happened every time I tested it, although at different intervals each time. The same thing likely would have happened if somebody had recorded a long enough voicemail greeting, but that did not come up.

RESOLUTION:

I asked Mitel level 1 tech support to escalate this issue.

Next-level support looked at SOS logs and recommended I replace the hard drives.

Replaced hard drives and issue is resolved.

If it was a TLS problem I would expect it not to work at all. The behavior was intermittent.

All emails were eventually sent out (some took 1 minute, some took 2 hours).

The server is not running AWV, only MBG so no patch required.

Tested both internal and external calls. Same results.

Worked around this issue by removing Office365 settings from the server. MSL can forward emails directly without using an upstream server if you leave the SMTP server address blank.

Update:

Restored a backup from before the problem was reported. No fix.

Backed up the database without voicemail messages and restored. Still no fix.

Ticket open with Mitel tech support.

Hi,

I have an MSL server 10.5.20.0 where I have set the SMTP server to Office 365.

The customer reports most of their voicemails take between 30-60 minutes from the time of message left on MiVB embedded voicemail to delivered in email.

The SMTP-Auth-Proxy log has hundreds of entries every day stating "No SMTP connection to server smtp.office365.com on port 587"

The MSL server is in server-gateway mode directly connected to the internet.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Hi, this is my first post here.

I have a MiVoice Business 9.0 SP3 with embedded vm that is cutting off at random times when trying to leave messages.

I called into one of the mailboxes and started to leave a message. While I was in the middle of talking the voicemail cut me off and asked me if I would like to review or send my message after roughly 1 minute. Often the problem happens earlier than 1 minute, sometimes later.

I have tried rebooting the system, and I have tried doing a backup/restore (with voicemail messages).

Next I will try to restore a backup from before the problem started, but the client is not happy about this.

Any other suggestions?
