Shoretel - MiVoice Connect / Re: Mitel Discontinuing Connect?
« on: March 29, 2022, 08:01:53 AM »
What a bummer. I havent heard anything concrete about Connect going away, but have been told they are discontinuing the current firmware and do not have an upgrade. I dont know... Have you heard anything specific?
We have to have an on premise system. Hosted systems are not an option. Anyone have any suggestions? Been thinking about setting up an Asterisk system and playing with it, maybe use cisco voice gateways for our analog needs.

Shoretel - MiVoice Connect / Mitel Discontinuing Connect?
« on: March 22, 2022, 05:54:44 PM »
I've heard from a little birdie that Mitel is discontinuing the Connect series (ST50A's, ST100A's, etc...)

Has anyone else heard these rumors?

I've been going through the planning and installation guide. It appears that with MiVoice connect, I should be able to assign extensions at site 1 to 1XXX, site 2 to 2XXX, etc... But I should probably stay away from assigning any 9XXX only because of 911. Though the system does appear to support extension like 9114 as it has a delay after 911 is entered to wait for just that event. Am hoping someone can confirm. Thank you!

Not sure if this is happening for anyone else, but the Shoretel - MiVoice Connect forum does not show up on the homepage until I log on. I've tried on firefox and chrome on two different machines. Not sure it this is by design or not but though I would point it out. Thanks

Hi all, we are scheduled to be getting a new MiVoice Connect system spread across seven geographic locations. Originally we were going to get an Office250 but that went end of life right in the middle of the deal. Anyway, I dont know a whole lot about this system and am wondering if anyone has any advice on how best to setup a number plan. We will have a mix of analog and voip desk phones. Between sites it would be great if we could have extension numbers that were 1xxx for site one, 2xxx for site two, etc... but I'm not sure if that is possible. Anyone have any thoughts? Thank you for your time.

Hi Ralph, thanks for your reply : ) Having to dial the entire digit string for an extension will be a major pain. Maybe not having to dial 9 and just programming a soft key for their trunk would work better, if that was one of your suggestions. If we were to go that route with the trunk access being a key on the device, could we have incoming calls on that line only ring that one extension as well? Where incoming calls on any of the twenty or so trunk lines get routed to individual extensions and outgoing calls from those extensions will grab their trunk with a soft key.

Hi yall,

We are currently working on getting a new voip system from Mitel. We were going to get a MiVoice250 but that system EOL'd so we decided to go voip. But that's not relevant...  Our system is unique in many ways but one aspect in particular is we have tens of analog trunk lines. Our current system has these trunk lines assigned to individual extensions where that trunk line is essentially their own private outside line. A ring in on that trunk would only ring the assigned extension and that extension when dialing 9 would only access that trunk. The integrator is saying that is not possible with this Mitel system and that the trunks will need to be part of a pool of outgoing numbers. I understand it may be an odd use case but it seems strange that a modern system would not be able to accommodate that configuration. Do ya'll have any insight? Thank you : )

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: 250 End of Life

the notice is out there. Search for mitel 250 end of life. It was released by a mitel partner. There was actually a post here earlier with copies but it was removed. My guess as to why the post was removed is the doc's were for internal Mitel and partner use only.

ooops, it still here at: http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=13731.0

I just confirmed with an actual Mitel employee that MItel 250 was end of technical support in 5 years. That's all he would really divulge, but lines up with the release from protelesis.

I found the document here: https://www.protelesis.com/pdf/mitel-mivoice-office-250-discontinuation.pdf
Wish I could find a Mitel link...

Where you see this? Is there a mitel link?

Oh wow. I've got some learning to do. Ok, last digit of the node should indicate site. ie, site 1 is P6001, P6101, 97001; site 2 is P6002, P6102, 97002; etc... With 97's being route groups for other sites I guess? Is this info available in a manual somewhere? Like are there P8000's and P6000's?

Thank you all for your guidance! I havent worked on Mitel's since the 90's on an SX-2000. For the node numbers, what would P6001 and P6101 denote? Would that be two different HX controllers at the same site?

Ok, that mirrors what we are hearing. We were initially told to avoid 3-9 then later they added stay away from 2 as well if we can. There will be 8 locations each with a 250. The network between them will appear to be just a flat network, or as far as the 250's will know, they are all plugged into the same network switch. What kind of challenges do 250's have being on a network?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / MiVoice 250 Numbering plan
« on: April 08, 2021, 05:29:59 PM »
Hello all, my first post here. We are getting a MiVoice 250 soon and we are currently figuring out our new extension numbering, it will be 4 digits. We are being told that we need to have all of our extensions in the 1000-1999 range because all other numbers are reserved for system features. There will be multiple MiVoice systems networked together and it would be nice to have each sites 4 digit extensions set up in 1000 number blocks so that one location starts at the 1000's and the next the 2000's, so on and so forth. I was just hoping to bounce that off ya'll to see if that was correct, extension numbers starting with 2-9 are reserved. Or maybe more precisely, extension numbers starting with 2-9 are discouraged as reassigning system feature numbers would be labor intensive. Thanks for your time : )
