Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 53xx application question

How many Javascript objects does the HTML Toolkit support beyond window.alert()?  It's the only one called out specifically in the Programmer Reference, so I'm not sure the full extent of browser support that I can expect within the tool kit.  My biggest question right now is how much can I use XMLHttpRequest to make AJAX calls from the phone?  We have a need where when the user presses a button, we need to hit an API endpoint of another machine to trigger a series of processes.  Is there support for this object, or a similar object that could do the same thing?  Am I allowed to load an external page to my phone - where I could process that request and redirect to a site inside the package?  How do I best start integrating with external systems from my 53xx phones?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 5330 Application support

I'm a software developer with a client that is looking to utilize their Mitel system to expand the capabilities of their phone system.  Based on what the current needs are, we like the looks of the HTML Toolkit, but I'm having trouble getting going.  They provided one of their phones, but I can't get anywhere without the 3300 that they have on-premises.  Should I be able to do much without access to the 3300?  If not, is there anyway for me to get it running locally?  Some app that I can run on my PC to simulate the 3300 functionality?  I'd like to be able to get this process going without having to make a purchase of this scale, so any ideas on how to get this running as is would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
