Sorry to resurrect an old thread... but for reference, in case others are looking:
- Jabra 2125
- Plantronics EncorePro 520
- AGPtEK IMG-HA0080-NB
- WirelessFinest T100

All these work, and work well.  (in order of price, from $99 to $15).  The audio quality of the last two are, as one would expect, somewhat less than pristine.

Hey guys,

Working a radio station, I've been hearing requests for various notification systems.
- People want to see a larger flashing light when the phone is ringing (in an on-air studio, the ringers are turned off)
- People want to see a list of extensions with notification of which are active (i.e., for a phone-a-thon, they want to know we have 6 people on the phone)

It seems like this ought to be relatively easy to implement via software.  I'm thinking of a Raspberry Pi connected to a GPIO to turn on a light when a phone rings or is active ... or set a variable for each active phone line that a webpage can periodically query.

The question then becomes, can the Mitel 5000 send this information to such a system?  Can it set a SNMP variable for 'phone is ringing' or 'extension is active', which the rPi can query?  can I have set up a SIP endpoint that rings at the same time as a certain extension, and set up the rPi as a SIP softphone?  or is there already a GPIO module for the 5000CP?

I saw the following: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNnzwsZx2Gc - a raspberry pi querying an Asterisk server, monitoring whether an extension is active...

which seems close to what I'm looking for.

Has anybody seen/done something like this?

Thanks!
- Jesse

Hey guys,

I have a bunch of 5320e handsets, and users wanting headsets.  I'm looking at several, which say they're compatible with models 5324, 5330, 5340, and 5550 (among others).  Is there a reason that they would not work with the 5320e?  I understand that the 5320 is a basic model; is there a circuitry difference or something?

Thanks!

I'm looking to get a couple of phones for satellite buildings, and possibly a number for phone drives; it'll really hurt my budget if I have to get a dozen more of the 5320/5330/5340s that I have through the office now.

I heard somewhere that I might also be able to use the Mitel 5212/5224.  Will these plug-n-play with my existing 5300s?  any other simple handsets (wired headset capability, don't need much more than that) out there I can get cheaply?

Thanks!

Bravo!  I had much the same question, your answer made it a snap to set up!

That makes sense, thanks! I was not aware of the link between the Directory and the VM system, had thought it was linked to the 'users' system.  I may need to go back through and check for problems... :)

I'll give it a try.

Hey, new user here, have been running our 5000CP for about 8-9 months now, seems to work pretty well other than some annoying 'insufficient bandwidth' errors.

Anyway, I wanted to ask the experts here about recycling users.  We had a few users leave the company, and new hires to replace them.  I am using hotdesk profiles, and would like to let the new users keep the same extensions as the previous holders.  Is there an easier way to reset the users's info?

I am assuming I will have to:
- change the name/description on the hotdesk profile
- change the name/description on the associated VM mailbox
- create a new user, and link it to the hotdesk profile
- reset web gui passwords?
and then
- get the new user to re-record their VM name, password, erase old VM messages, etc.

This seems like it's a somewhat cumbersome method, and would let the new user see/hear the old user's name/voicemail info, unless I personally do it.  It also won't present the new user with the 'first time' VM info.

My guess is that there might be an easier way. I could bumble around for a long time trying to find it, or ask the people who work with these things all the time; I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction!

Thanks!!
