Smashing, thanks for your advice all, thought it was too good to be true!

I'll keep the £50 in my pocket and save it for something of more use (probably a visit to the dentists at the current rate...)

Thanks again :)

Hi Ralph,

Not a clue I'm afraid, I'm guessing its old-ish as it's been installed for a while and hasn't been maintained properly for a good couple of years

Howdy guys,

Long time no speak, hope you're all well.

Anyway, to cut to the chase; I've been offered to purchase a 3300 MX for just under £50
This seems an absolute steal, and so despite wanting to throw money at it left right and centre for a tinker, I just want to see what you all think...

There's no documentation, passwords, logins, nothing..... It's working, and has been in use (which I can verify) so that's not an issue with it being beyond repair....

So, with all of your expert opinions, is this a wise thing, even if it is just a playabout box?

The first thing that concerns me is the password situation - is the 3300 MX possible to reset logins without Mitel's/a resellers' costly intervention?

I look forward to receiving all kinds of advice from you all.

Ta,

J

Hey ralph,

Thanks for the help :)

However, we no longer have control of the PBX. The management company (Bailey Teswaine) took complete control of it under a service agreement and now we don't even have logins to it.

I've seen an ONS/Analog guide on the mitel site - this one: http://edocs.mitel.com/UG/EN/33_ONS_R7_EN.pdf
Is this possible at a user end side?

Or, if I was to fast-track the IP telephone install, would this make it easier? Is forwarding configurable from the IP telephone?
If so, how?

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks :)

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Analog System - Call Forward
« on: January 29, 2011, 05:08:18 AM »
Hello,

I'm trying to help out a user who has an analog phone on the system with a request they have.

Basically, they have an internal extension that doesn't have a DDI - something like ext. 270, whereas the DDI scheme ends at 269.
(Odd, yes. All down to money reasons unfortunately).

Anyway, basically, they would like all calls to their extension to forward to an external number when they are unable to answer their phone.

They are not due for an upgrade to an IP Phone until sometime late this year, and the call forwarding issue is a big problem at the moment.

As we're using a 3300 ICP, can any of you provide me with the details on how to do this?

Thanks :)

Joe

Ah, balls.

They've only just turned on the VLANs here too, which has been causing lots of problems.

I will get the network technicians who are actually in the loop about it to have a look and see what they can do.

OK, so I got in today and put the IP address of the ICP in as the teleworker gateway.

It now boots and sets up :)

However, once it has done so, it just hangs at:

Set 10.10.65.38
ICP 192.168.2.1

What can I do from here?

Hey!

Thanks to the help and support of all of you on here, I've managed to (after a bit of a calamity) get my Mitel 5312 IP Phone at least partway towards usability.

I've now managed to locate the IP address of the ICP, but didn't have time tonight to plug it in to the phone as Teleworker Mode.
I will be doing that tomorrow morning, (UK Time), and will post back here when I get that done :)

I was just wondering, what should I expect to do after inserting the IP of the ICP?
What things will I require, as I would quite rather like to get them pre-prepared, and then have them at-hand when there (as I need the least downtime possible - I'm running the box office in the run up to a big show, so need to be answering the phone!).

Thanks,

Joe

Otherwise, with a phone online, do the following:

Press both the up and down arrows sat the same time. Release the top arrow, but continue to hold the bottom one. Press the the 2 key, then the 3 key, then the 4 key (spelling out cfg). You can now release all the keys, and the display should give you the phone's menu.

If you press * or #, go into the network settings, view current, and then using the down arrow, page down through the information. One of the options should be ICP 1. This is your controller's ip address. Continue to page down till it give you an option to press * to exit. Again hit the down arrow until you get the option to hit * a second time. It should return the phone to date and time.

Couple of warnings. If the phone is a 5220, its an older phone, and I'm not sure this will even be possible. Second, not sure what will happen if the phone rings while your doing all this.

Aha, ok :) Will try it with the 5312. Besides, the 5220 is the one that is the main operator telephone, so it's less likely that this one will ring.

A couple things:
1: you can connect a serial cable to the 3300 ICP at 9600,8,n,1 and enter bootChange.   Just keep hitting return through all the prompts being absolutely sure you change nothing.  ( maybe you should write down what's there while you're at it.)  One of the options is inet on backplane.  (I think - I'm doing this from memory)  It will show you the IP address of the 3300.

2: you may be able to find the MAC address on the bottom or rear of the 3300 then do a reverse ARP.  If you're on the same subnet you should be able to find it.

3:  Tell one of the phone users to get over them selves and boot their phone.  It will show you the ICP IP address when it boots.

Ralph

1. Not able to do that at present, nor with number 2.

3. I have tried, and have ended up getting verbal abuse from the receptionists!

Thank you for your help anyway ;)

Just googled the mitel IP phone range, and it seems like the orange backlit one is a 5220.

Hope it helps :)

There is a 5312, and another (unfortunately it's secured, so I can't turn it around, but it has an orange backlight. and a PKM module installed).

How would i go about finding out the IP address? Bearing in mind it can't take more than 5 minutes, and must not restart the phone (it takes a long while for some reason for them to restart, and that would disrupt reception, and then they would clunk me head with the whole unit!).

Thanks  :)

Joe

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 3300ICP - Finding IP Address
« on: December 11, 2010, 07:07:31 AM »
Hey,

I've recently moved to the new school site (we have two sites, each with separate 3300's), and I've taken my 5312 IP phone with me.

However, over there, it's all Analog. All the racking has at least 2 FXS modules in each, which provide the telephones over (really low quality) cabling, to a random assortment of analog British Telecom telephones. It's always failing, but they don't want to change it.

They tried to get me to take one of them, but upon producing this IP phone (which cost a bloody fortune!) they (IT support) said "oh, we don't support those". They only have two mitel phones, and they are both on reception. So there's no way I would get a chance to restart them and go through any of the settings. (I'd probably get a bump on the noggin with the handset if i did that).

Basically, they don't have the IP address of the 3300ICP. Otherwise they are going to call out the same management company (Bailey Teswaine) and charge me

Thanks for your reply.

However, I can't access Mitel OnLine, as I am not a reseller, nor a nominated end-user.

This is why I can't access it >.< Any advice on how to get it otherwise?

I did contact Mitel and explain my situation, and they were unwilling to supply me with details for MOL.

Thanks,

Joe
