I'd love to see a walk through of tapping into the speaker leads.

Unless I'm mistaken, this sounds perfect for Meet Me Conferencing.  I see someone has already suggested have a 800 number point to the conference bridge.  however any DID will work and if you have the AA pick up first you can setup an extension to dial so you don't need to spend more money on a DID (I know, not much money but I'm cheap).

With our system.
1. I log into my portal and generate a 7 digit conference code.
2. I then email all the parties I need involved in that conversation with:
   a. The date.
   b. The time.
   c. Our main phone number.
   d. The Conference Bridge Extension.
   e. The 7 digit access code.
3. All parties call in at the same time and the system will connect them.  You don't need to have anything to do the the call.  I'm not certain of the timer but I think after one hour the call is terminated.  I'm certain the call timer can be changed if you need it but not really on the fly.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / UC360 VPN
« on: November 27, 2014, 03:31:39 PM »
Has any one tried connecting a UC360 back to the 5000 through VPN?  I'd like to bring the UC360 with me to trade shows with a working connection so I can really show it off.

Here's my thought:
Wifi -> Laptop -> Bridge Wireless and Nic (configured to connect to my office network VPN) -> Connect a PoE router to feed a UC360 and a couple phones for display.

Obviously, I'm not looking for toll quality. 90% of what I'm hoping for is to simply have the home screen displayed on the 360 and demo the smart office.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Thank you Tech Electronics for such a comprehensive and succinct reply.  It's amazing the various ports I've been erroneously advised to open.

Quick question though:

Why do you recommend not opening ports 443 and 22 for System Admin & Diag?  We're relatively new and the 5000 and have gone out of our way to ensure we have access to the Sys Admin & Diag.  Even going so far (not really hard) as to change the listening port on the 5000 when port 443 has been used by another server.

Additionally, why port 69 or 20001?  Is one a secured version of the other?  If not, what is the difference?

Thanks in advance.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / DEE Dropping Calls
« on: November 21, 2014, 11:46:34 AM »
Hello all,

Our DEE seems to drop calls after about 5 to 10 minutes.

Background:
1. We have a dedicated internet connection for the phone system.
2. 8 SIP trunks.
3. 4 Teleworker phones.
4. All DEE extensions are cell phones that do not generally drop calls when called directly.
5. Network is carefully controlled.  Again, we have a dedicated internet connection to the 5000 going through a Linksys VPN small business router.

The only call quality issues we have are to the 4 Teleworker phones, occasional digital glitching and dropped calls.  Has anyone encountered this previously?  If so can you offer suggestions on resolving this?

Thanks,
