I've used the SWAP command to toggle between software releases without any problem.

Thanks Mszodiac- I will do that later tonight to avoid any system down time during daily operations.

Think of "SWAP" as pulling out one hard drive and installing another. Everything that was on the inactive side comes to life, and everything that is currently active goes away. That includes voicemail etc. It will be as it was when it was swapped originally. Have your users check any important mailboxes that may have received messages before you swap back.

"SWAP" is fairly dangerous for the uninitiated that are simply looking for the "MOVE SWAP" command.

Thank you for replying Matthew,

The 4.2 was being used originally, the other is the backup system. so I need it to be active as all the programming on the 4.2 need to be in place right now. So my question, is there a safer way to re-upgrade the system?

Hi Guys n Gals,

Haven't been on in a while which means no problems until now. I sure hope this one is an easy answer.

We have a 3300 MCD, rel. 4.2 which somehow got degraded to rel. 4.1 I can see this from the 'about' button, as it shows active software load 10.1.0.69_1 and inactive software load 10.1.2.16. Can a simple 'SWAP' command restore the 4.2 release?

I'm pretty sure someone went in and tried programming something and did something wrong to downgrade the system, but now im stuck getting it back up to right level.

So if I do the swap command will it work, and revert to the 4.2? And will all the old programming be unaffected?

Thanks in advance,
Opalicious

Wow! - it worked, they read the msg and i was able to delete the line appearance.

I have got the exts deleted and now added as IP phones. :)  I called 8xx-4951 -2 to test and it comes back as busy. I called the exts to test if they're working and get a busy tone. I stat them and get the below:

  Location    | Device               | State          |  Owner  | ID  |Status
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 1 3  1  23  1| 5320 IP              | Out of Service |         |     |
 1 3  1  23  2| Unassigned           | Not applicable |         |     |
 1 3  1  23  2| Alternate Codec      | Out of Service |         |     |

You shouldn't have to touch the other appearances, but the 3300 won't let you delete an MWI key when there's an active message waiting against that DN. Turn off the MWI light, and you should be able to delete the key without impacting the other appearances of that DN.

Thank you Lundah,

having them do that now, will keep you all posted as I go along! :)

You're going to have to clear the msg waiting on the button.
You can start by trying the FAC for msg on and then msg off on the button.
<FAC ON><extn of button>
Then
<FAC OFF><extn of button>
This may clear the lamp.
You may have to do the off code a couple of times.

Once clear, then delete the button from the phone.

Hi Ralph :)

I should also mention that 4950 is the non prime line for the spa. It appears on all the other spa extensions, so I would need to clear this button from all the others too correct, then re-program them? So if you call 8xx - 4950 it rings on all the spa phones, and each of these exts has it on button 6 as message indication for 4950 via key system setup.

Hi All,
top of the morning to you all.  I need some assistance with a task Ive been given. There are two DNI phones at the spa (4025's) and the hotel wants them replaced with IP phones. I have tried to delete the DNI extensions from 'user and device config form' but it tells me that a line is in use on one of these extensions.

I have already created 2 new fake extensions with MAC addresses in the IP phones form, just waiting to edit the extensions from the spa after ive deleted them. But im stuck, when i try to delete, it says, one of the lines on this device is in use, when I check the keys of the device, it appears on button number 6 as a message waiting indication for 4950, if i try to clear the key, it says the line is in use!

Pleaseseeeeeeee help !! - tearing my hair out mates :(

Thanks in advance!

Opal

It looks like you've got it.
It will only forward on RNA since a console is never busy.

Ralph

Hi Ralph/ Everybody  :D

This is what I have set up so far.....

CALL REROUTING FIRST ALTERNATIVE FORM:

#10   this this this this this this this this   ext 4129

CALL REROUTING FORM:

EXT: 0         1    5   1   ALL     10     12

EXT: 6181    1   5   1    ALL    10     12

Please let me know if this is what you instructed. I was also told that  the calls will queue until the 'no answer timer' runs out prior to transferring to the routed extensions.

Question: The System Feature Settings, COS options is where I'd find the option to chg/lessen the 'no answer timer' correct? And if the setup starts to work, would lessening/chging the timer route the calls on queue quicker?

Regards,
Opalicious

Did you assign a 10 to both 0 and 6181?

Ralph

No I didn't...I just did, not my shift is over. I'll need to continue tomorrow.

Thank you so much, I'll try and catch you again tomorrow, you rock!

Ralph,

the softkey for the operator is #2, directorynumber is 0, and dir. label is operator, key #7 is dir number 6181, label console1, which is the console that's in use at the moment. I did as you instructed, went to 1st, changed number 10 across the board to this, this, and the ext. i wanted it to 'forward to when the oper is busy on a call, then went to call rerouting and changed 1st to 10. ( I did not change call rerouting to 10 across the board, only at 1st.)

Called the oper. and then had coll. call, but same results, oper. claims the ext I routed it to didnt ring, what am I DOING wrong????
(tearing out my hair  :-\ )
