Managed to get the licences in, using the system admin tool, after giving temporary internet access (and DNS ips) to the controller.
But, I would still like to know why the software installer tool is closing down automatically.
After getting the licences in, I can go in through the software installer tool, leaving just configure licenses checked, and I do see my licences when it verifies licences - but if I click on retrieve licences, tool still automatically closes - now leaving cat5 connected as controller has internet access.
If anyone has ideas, I would ove to know why it closes.

Hi Folks,

I have recently manually upgraded a 3300 MXE lab sytem to MCD 5.0 and can now log into system.
Trying to use the software installer tool only to apply new demo licence (already assigned to hardware id on AMC site).
I check off full install, choose internal 3300 ftp server and browse to c:\ftproot, where I still have all software files).
Then on next screen, I uncheck all boxes except configure licenses and then tool verifies licenses are all zero.
I then put in application record id and hit retrieve licenses - System does not have interent access so just before doing this I unplug cat 5 cable from system so laptop can go out wireless to AMC Site or unplug cat 5 and plug into internet modem, changing static ip back to obtain automatically). I have done this in the past and it worked fine, then normally plug back into 3300 system and continue on.
But, this time immediately after clicking retrieve licence - the installer tool closes down (no longer running if I look in task manager).
I have tried both the tool that comes with MCD 5.0 and MCD 6.0 as well - same thing.
The tool does not fail to reach the AMC site - it just disappears from the screen and doesn't come back....
Running Windows 7 on an HP Probook 6470b.

Any thoughts?

update - it seems that I can change (one) member, in the admin policies form, from read-only to read/write, for example.
But, if I hit change all members, it gives me the error when I try to change even the same member I just changed above.

Thanks for the input so far.
I did do a DBMS check full command and it came back with zero errors.

Yes, it's true that the flag of command does not completely wipe out the database - licenses are still there for example, but it has been useful in the past.  I believe it did used to clear even the license info a few years ago.

It is only a lab system, so I can upgrade / restore software, bu t Iwoudl like to know if there is a command or procedure to fix issue.
Even though I am adding a new Admin Policy, and then attempting to change its "members" ie. forms,  it still returns that error.

Hi Folks,

This is only on a lab 3300cxi system, running 6.0 sp2, 12.0.2.23 software.  It is not in a cluster.

I backed it up, loaded a blank database (dbms flag off, then reset system), and then did a restore.
Progamming for sets, etc came back but when I add a new policy in Admin Policies, default read-only, and then try to change all members below (or even change pages except for the first page or two) it return above error.
May not be related but I noticed that the radio buttons are all blank as well, for read/write, read only and no access, until I click one and attempt to select it - I would have thought that the read-only buttons would have been pre-selected because I chose that as default access type.
Google search did not turn up any current info on this error message, but I read about it happening for one customer with the telephone directory form, where they could only make changes to the first page members as well. Someone thought it may have to do with ESM database not being in sync with (another) database used behind the scenes....and that aftre rls 6 there should be a maintenance command to sync it - I do npt know that command...

DBMS check full came back with 0 errors.
Any help would be appreciated.

Forgive me if I am missing something, but why do you have to use the SI in order to complete the licensing?  Why can't you do a manual install, then type in the applicable fields manually in the ESM, along with the mitel password.
I realize that many people use the on-line method, to conact and verify teh AMC record, but is there something that doesn't work by doing it manually?

My fault. RAM was not in tight.

Hi Folks,

I got a replacement 3300CXi controller (old one damaged in shipping) and added the old i-button, t1 card, 512m ram (replacement only came with 256m), APC card and it's hard drive.

The i-button brackets on the replacement chassis, likely refurbished, seemed loose, and did not hold the button tight.  I bent them a bit, so they hold it tighter.

Anyway, I get the following error message from the maintenance port as soon as I apply power: (it doesn't go any further.)  Any ideas??

ERROR - Failed to receive acknowledge during send command:

sorry, just seen your other post, with the programming / form info.

perhaps list which / all forms / programming you have added to geth the IP truning working, and someone may notice what is missing.

Ralph,   thanks for the reply!  Somehow the L2 Ip address got changed to 0.0.0.0. I didn't notice it, as it had been Ok earlier. As soon as it was put back in, both the ethernet connectivity and the POE returned (after a reboot).

As for the CXi that has no POE, but has ethernet connectivity on the ports 1-16, we discovered a loose / broken off part (small round cylinder thing) that must have been damaged when shipping between sites. Despite being in a protective hard case, and padded, the shipping was so rough that the power supply was completely loose from the back case (screw had come vibrated out I guess). It may have knocked off this other part when bouncing around loose. I have another CXi and will have to take them apart to see where the part came from. May be possible to solder it back on.

Thanks again!

Hi folks,

we have downgraded / manually installed older version (9.0.0.41) on two CXis (which I have done often) and manually reinstalled the same version (10.0.2. on a CXiII. This is in a lab environment. One still works fine. The other CXi and the CXiII both are having problems, where the built in 16 port switch on one is not giving power to IP switches, nor Lan connectivity / DHCP, despite DHCP being enabled.
The other one has LAN connectivity on the 16 port switch, but no POE (The ports all have power set to auto in programming).

We did turn the DBMS flag on (DBMS save) before enabling DHCP, and have loaded our License options / passwords and rebooted.

Now running 4.0 on both machines.

Any thoughts?

V2Win - Is using option 125, to give out several of the DHCP parameters,( like tftp address, ICP address, Vlan #, Vlan priority) the newer or older way of doing this?
I know there was a reason / conflict with industry standard DHCP options, or something like that.  But, I am not sure which were the old, and what is the now, preferred way!

If you could shed a bit of light on this, that woudl be great.

Hi Guys,

Can you elaborate a bit on not using the Wan port for iP trunking, please.  May be a moot point, but do you mean that one would normally have a managed edge VPN device (or purchased VPN box, firebox, etc) plugged into your internet connection, that would then in turn just plug into your layer 2 switch and the Mitel 3300 LAN port - therefore you really wouldn't be using the WAN port anyway.

I am familiar with the BCM50e, where the WAN port / router is capable of VPN tunnelling to the other sites, so in that case, it could be used for internet connetcion, as well as the tunnels to the other sites for IP trunking.

Unfortunately, the Mitel does not have VPN tunnel capability on the WAN port, so I guess you have to pay for a managed service or buy a standalone box at each site.  I haven't used these types of VPN services, but I assume that you connect from the VPN box to a layer 2 switch, which would connect all PCs/ IP phones and the Mitel 3300 LAN port, correct???

What about when and APCcard is installed, and it is used as teh firewall, connected through the 3300WAN port, for teleworker and internet access.  I don't suppose the APC card supports VPN tunnelling / IP trunking?  If not would a customer who wants teleworker (on an APC card) require 2 public static Ip addresses on an internet connection:  One to be connected to the VPN device, layer 2 switch, Mitel 3300 etc, as well as another to connect to the WAN port to allow the APC card / teleworker to be a public address.

Just trying to understand the options!!

It would be nice if the OP would post his networking info and ARS / network/node info, as somthing might be more easily noticed.
