Sorry for the delay.  I'm using a 3CX SIP Softphone.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Port Forwarding for Softphone

Hello!  We have a few workers that use softphones to connect to our 5000, but in order for them to function they have to be logged into our VPN.  I'd like to set up port forwarding so they wouldn't have to be on our VPN 24/7 in order for their softphones to work.  Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide/manual to do this?

Hello!

Just a quick update.  I compared the conditions of the forward path to one of our other phones that is working correctly, and they are the same.  Also, the station flag for forwarding is turned on.  It's only for calls from outside the network that the voicemail doesn't pickup.  If I dial his extension from my desk phone, his voicemail picks up.  But if I dial it from my cell, it transfers me back to the attendant.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Voicemail for SIP Softphone
« on: September 03, 2013, 05:25:55 PM »
Hello!

I have a user that has been setup on a SIP Softphone on a new extension.  I must have missed a step somewhere, because when I was calling him to test his voicemail, it just rings for 7-8 seconds and then transfers back to the attendant.  His extension is 116, and it has mailbox 116 listed under mailboxes.  And the forwarding path is -->1 Voicemail.  The mailbox itself works, because I can check them from my phone.  It's just not forwarding the call to the voicemail box after X seconds.  Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Chad

Sorry for the delayed response after I asked for your help.  I was creating an IP Softphone instead of a SIP phone, which was why it wasn't working.  I'm up and running now, thanks!

If I'm connected to a VPN, do I have to open any ports on my router to be able to use the softphone?  I'm getting a 408 - Request Timed Out error whenever I attempt to connect.

Thanks!

Hello!

Someone recently left our company, and I need to give a new hire that person's old phone.  I have created a new user, extension, and mailbox for that person.  I just need to figure out how to point the phone from the old extension to the new one.  I promise I tried searching first!  I just don't know the exact phrase I'm searching for (extension swap, phone extension programming, etc.).  Any help would be appreciated, including if I need to set up more than just the user, ext, and mailbox for the new person!

Thanks!

Firstly, I got thrown into administrating a phone system, so my experience is limited to what I've fumbled through for the last 6 months.

I've managed to figure out how to do most everything we need up to this point.  But we have a new team member starting that isn't going to be in our office.  So I need for her to have an extension that can be accessed from the attendant, dial by name, etc.  But I just need that extension to go to an external phone number.  Is this a phantom?

I'm hoping one of you wonderful folks can point me in the right direction.  I gave the search function on the forums a shot, but w/o knowing the correct terminology for what I'm trying to do, I wasn't having much luck.

Thanks in advance!
